||||||||
ABOUT EPISODE 02 Episode 02 of 192 Nausikaa film is 14 minutes long and was completed in 2021. It is the first one of a series of nine episodes that will form a 90 min animated feature film. Although it is intended to form part of a future feature film, episode 02 is also an autonomous short film. This film was created as an artwork and not a commercial product. It was filmed with real actors and then all frames were hand-painted with acrylic and oil paints on 300gr Bristol paper. In total, 5471 frames were painted (8 per second) within a 2-year period by Angelos Spartalis and 13 more painters. Color correction was done digitally. Also, excerpts from the following films were reimagined and painted: Cast Away, Watchmen, Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey. Dialogues and songs were performed in ancient Greek. The chorus sings verses from Sappho's epithalamium "Sweet apple" and fragment "Golden-haired Phoebus" along the music of the traditional song "My red apple". Ulysses' monologue to Nausikaa consists of the original verses from Rhapsody VI from Homer's Odyssey.
EPISODE 02 SUMMARY In Homer's Odyssey, the Phaeacian princess, Nausikaa, and her friends are the first persons in world literature to play with a ball. According to one version, goddess Athena altered the course of the ball to lead Nausikaa to Ulysses. 3217 years later, Diego Armando Maradona said that the same happened to him, when he scored the goal that is known as the "Hand of God".
FILM SUMMARY The crew of the mother spacecraft floating in empty space are buying vacation packages that can transport you for a while in any place in the universe you like, in any time of the past, the present or the future you choose. Young captain Nausikaa who is exhausted after the completion of a very dangerous, bloody expedition on asteroid 192, chooses to relax on the Phaeacian island where she will meet mythical and resourceful Ulysses once again. |
